One of the beautiful things about working on a job that you love to do, you get to subsidize your desire for awesome gear with your business.

Seeking to upgrade our aging gear locker of MiniDV cameras last year, we looked at many cameras. We looked at the standard and inexpensive DSLRs with which most wedding videographers work, like the Canon 60D, 7D and 5D. We already had a Canon 5D MKIII and wanted to build on that with a camera that had pro audio and that something extra that DSLRs cannot provide.

After much back and forth, we decided on the Sony FS700R, a camera capable of shooting in 4K, as well as super slow motion 240FPS (frames per second).

The shallow depth of field of the SUPER 35 sensor, the wide range of the 18-200MM lens,  and the super slow motion made the FS700 the perfect camera for a super slow motion Maui Wedding.

Here’s a clip of a wedding we did on October 15th, 2014 at Palauea Beach in Wailea. Jennifer and David were really into the post ceremony shooting and I just happened to switch the Sony FS700 to super slow motion, when they decided to do this cartwheel stunt!
