The Famed Grand Wailea Wedding Chapel to Be Torn Down

RIP ye olde Grand Wailea Wedding Chapel

RIP ye olde Grand Wailea Wedding Chapel

Time marches on and nothing lasts for ever.

Not even the iconic Grand Wailea Wedding Chapel in which so many wedding couples have consecrated their marriage. In a move that would bolster the room number from the other already HUGE Grand (they must have over 800 rooms already) by and additional 310 units, the wedding chapel will be torn down and wedding ceremonies moved to the Luau grounds.

From a business perspective, it makes sense to start these renovations now, during the slow recessionary cycle, so that by the times vacation budget recover, they’ll be in full form with maximum, busting-at-the-seams capacity. Can you imagine over 1000 rooms??? Wow…

If approved, the project will start immediately and last for nearly 5 years. That will mean noise and possible inconvenience, but also perhaps some sweet deals as well for anyone who can handle the extra commotion.

If you planned your Maui wedding ceremony for the Chapel, check with your wedding coordinator to discuss alternate plans, should this renovation be confirmed and moving forward.

Coming to Maui and Love Tennis?

Are you coming to Maui to get married and you just happen to love tennis?

Along with several top notch tennis clubs for private lessons and clinics, Maui also has a great variety of municipal courts to play on for free!

Just bring your racket, some sneaks and your game.

The pictures below were taken in Wailuku at Wells park.

Other great courts are in Kahului at War Memorial Stadium and in Kihei at Maui Sunset condo. My favorite tennis club is in Makena.

What better way to get active after your wedding than to hit some balls with your new spouse!?!

Alooooha,
Stephan

Are You a Publicity Seeker or A Private Type? Who Sees Your Maui Wedding is Up to You.

So you want to be an internet webcast star? You’re thinking maybe like Jill and Kevin?

What, you aren’t one of the 25,000,000 who’ve seen the video? Well, then, you’ve got to see it here:

This youtube video was so popular and went so viral that cable news station picked it up and ran stories all over the country. Jill and Kevin went on the talk show circuit and had their 15 minutes of fame. They were just two unsuspecting people getting married and turned in to overnight sensations.

Most of our couples choose to do their webcasts on the down-low, inviting just their friends and family in an intimate and personal chat and viewing room. Some even prefer to have their wedding page password protected. No problem, we’ll protect it.

But, in case there are those who want to share their wedding with the world and market it so that it goes viral, we could do that too. It’s really up to individual preference. Just make sure to tell us what you prefer:

1. private OR
2.  viral public.

I can’t guarantee that 25  mil people will tune in to your wedding through. That’s up to your imagination and ingenuity.

We’ll just deliver it to the web, but who tunes in is up to you.

Aloha,
Stephan

Ominous Clouds Make the Sunset

What may at first seem like ominous clouds hovering over your Maui wedding, might just be that magic ingredient for an epic sunset.

Here’s an example. Again these pics were shot with my Blackberry. Not bad considering!

What Maui Vibe Suits You?

Aloha from the North Shore Maui.

Today, my Saturday, I decided to have a relaxing day on the beach, reading a book (Eat, Pray, Love). I was just sitting here when the thought occured to me:

Do prospective wedding couples like you really know what’s out here on Maui, or are you set in your ways to stay at a Wailea or Kaanapali Resort and leave it at that? Of course there are nice resorts (my ex employer Four Seasons comes to mind), but for highly authentic, off-the-predictable trail, there are little B&B type places on the north shore or up country that might provide a more peaceful and rejuivinating experience. Far from the shops, the Hard Rock Cafe’s and turn key resort activities lay little nooks like the one in the pictures below.

I whipped out my Blackberry, took the pictures and am now uploading them to you. Modern technology is amazing!

Seriously though, if your style is more laid back than a tourist resort, look to smaller Inns and B&B’s. Craigslist, VBOR.com, and tripadvisor.com might be a good place to start looking.

Aloha (and now back to my book)

Stephan
